Welcome to my July 1st Lensbaby Blog Circle post, in which I’d like to invite you to take a short walk with me in San Antonio, Texas. My family was taking a five-day vacation in Austin and San Antonio, and I grabbed my Lensbaby Twist 60 to capture some great moments while walking on the famous San Antonio River Walk (Paseo del Rio), which is the largest urban ecosystem in the United States. The whole walk is 15 miles long, but we mainly just visited the downtown area. You can walk by the river, enjoy a lunch or dinner in one of the many restaurants, visit small gift shops, or take a guided tour on an electric barge. We walked around the downtown area twice; once in late afternoon then after sunset. The vibe was different, but we noticed that even at night the area is very family friendly.

I really enjoyed capturing the colorful barges, and I even took pictures of people, which is very unusual for me. We saw pretty flowers, some wildlife, and at night we walked up to San Fernando Cathedral where we watched a laser light show projected to the cathedral’s wall for a few minutes. Without further ado, enjoy a brief tour of the San Antonio River Walk.

This post is part of a group of posts about Lensbaby related topics. At the beginning of each month we feature images and stories taken with our Lensbaby lenses, and link to each other. 1. The river seems to be nicely integrated as a highlight into the city. It is very busy there. The boats are very special, but I love the patterns in the metal 🙂

The Twist60 and I did not get friends yet. To get the effect out of the lens and get the right bokeh you have to have the motiv and the background in a special distance, which is not always given. You did get that effect on the Echinacea.

Thanks for sharing your little journey!

    Herzliche Grüße
    Birgit

    1. I prefer to use the Twist 60 for flowers, especially with macro filters. I can bring out the twisty features better with the flowers. Since we were on a family vacation where I only stop for a few seconds to take pictures, and due to the busy subjects of the images, I used F5.6 for most of the pictures. Thanks for visiting Birgit.

  2. F 5,6.., ok I asked myself, how you did it, because I use the Twist 60 just for flowers and portraits. San Antonio seems to be a lovely place for holidays with a great atmosphere. Kind regards, Jessica

What a wonderful set of images Gizella, I love how the colour of those barges just pops out the screen! I wouldn’t have thought to use my Twist for something like this but I feel inspired to get it out now!

    1. To tell you the truth I didn’t know what I was going to shoot with the one LB lens I decided to take with me on the trip. There wasn’t much in Austin for me, but the Riverwalk in San Antonio provided some opportunities. It was challenging to focus on the barges, but I was successful with a number of images. I find the Twist pretty versatile.
